Here's what we have in the works....
Van Damme State Park
October, 2018
Join Renee Hamilton for an exploration of Mendocino’s Van Damme State Park, which offers a scenic beach, a lush fern-filled forest and year-round camping. This park has something for everyone: easy, moderate and strenuous hiking trails, a beach and protected coves for kayaking and the famed pygmy forest. Of all the park system's units along the Mendocino coast, Van Damme is perhaps the richest in terms of historical resources connected with the redwood lumber industry. As soon as we can reserve the campsites, we’ll publish the dates and cost.

Saturday Sorties
In recognition of the far-flung nature of our membership as well as the beauty that the entire Bay Area has to offer, the Outings Committee has launched Saturday Sorties. On the second Saturday each month, we’ll enjoy a day outing to locations primarily outside of Marin. Our goal is to bring the warmth and camaraderie we experience with the California Alpine Club to all our members, wherever they live, and create more opportunities for all to enjoy Nature’s bounty throughout the Bay Area and beyond.
MAY SATURDAY SORTIE

Point Reyes National Seashore
May 12, 2018 - 9:30 a.m.
Our May Sortie takes us to Point Reyes National Seashore with leader Ernie Castiaux. At 9:30 a.m., we'll meet at the end of the Bear Valley parking lot at the trail head gate. We will NOT meet at the Ranger Visitor Center. Look for the CAC sign. Our route leads up the Mt. Wittenberg trail, along Sky and Baldy trails, and returns via Bear Valley, taking us along a lovely creek. We will pass through a variety of eco-zones (grassland, pine forest, chaparral) and enjoy lunch overlooking the Pacific. This 9-mile hike has an elevation gain of about 1200 feet. Bring water, lunch, snacks, and good humor.  After our hike, many will want to tour the town of Point Reyes Station and stop at a restaurant for an after-hike refreshment.
JUNE SATURDAY SORTIE

Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve
June 9, 2018 - 9:30 a.m.
Brigitte Grimshaw will lead us on an exploration of the serene and magnificent coastal redwoods of Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. Details will be published in the May Outings e-bulletin.
And finally....
Report from the Trail
MT. DIABLO SORTIE - APRIL 7
Perfect weather, endless views and amazing and abundant wildflowers greeted CAC members on April's Saturday Sortie. Ernie Castiaux led us on a fantastic circumambulation around Mt. Diablo's summit and Steve Curry educated us on the colorful flowers that lined our trail. What a way to spend a Saturday! Don't miss our next Sortie to Point Reyes, which is sure to be extraordinary.
