DESCRIPTION:Sacred in Miwok and Ohlone mythology as ‘The Point of Creation\,” Mt. Diablo is one of the Bay Area’s ecological treasures. We’ll enjoy spring wildflowers on this moderately paced\, 8.5 mile hike with a 2\,000 ft. elevation gain. This hike is rated 2B and will be followed by a 1/2 mile walk around the Summit Interpretive Trail. Hike departs at 9:30 a.m. sharp from the Juniper Campground parking lot in Mt. Diablo State Park. There is a $10 parking fee\, so best to carpool. Directions: Take Hwy. 680 to the Diablo Road exit in Danville. Go East toward Mt. Diablo and watch for the park entrance on the left. Continue up the mountain for several miles. Juniper Campground has a large parking lot to the left of the road near the top of the mountain. Bring lunch\, water\, and dress in layers for changing weather conditions. Hiking poles are recommended for some steep descents with loose rock. DESCRIPTION:It’s March\, and that means it’s time for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner at the Alpine Lodge! Get your green on to join the party on St. Patrick’s Day\, Saturday\, March 17. \nThis popular annual event will feature a convivial social hour beginning at 5:00 pm\, followed by the traditional corned beef with cabbage\, carrots and potatoes. If that’s not enough\, we’ll have old-fashioned apple pie for dessert and great musical entertainment. Chef Tim Worden\, assisted by Sondra Schwartz\, will be preparing the meal. The special price this year is $18. Children under 12 are FREE! So families\, we hope to see you there! \nWe’re also hosting overnight stays at Alpine Lodge on Friday\, March 16 and Saturday\, March 17 to make it easy to attend and maybe take a Saturday or Sunday hike.
